Who We Are

The Canadian Polish Congress is a Not-for-Profit Canadian Organization formed from many Polish organizations throughout Canada. It also represents our community’s interests before the people and Government of Canada. The Canadian Polish Congress promotes awareness of and respect for Poland’s history and heritage and the contribution of Poles to the culture of Canada and the world.

The Canadian Polish Congress – Quebec District is located in the territory of Quebec. It has been formed for the purpose of helping new immigrants who arrived to Canada mostly after the First World War and later. The newcomers needed to socialize with other Polish people, to keep contact with their culture, tradition as well as to speak in their own language. In later years, the Canadian Polish Congress – Quebec District coordinated the building of churches where people could gather.  The Canadian Polish Congress – Quebec district also assisted with the opening of schools where children would learn the Polish language, culture and traditions along with the history of Poland During World War II.  The Canadian Polish Congress – Quebec district provided help overseas,  when local organizations assisted families in need after the war in Poland by sending parcels and other goods to help them rebuild

Today our goal is to unite our Polish community, to represent our community as a group within the  municipal,  regional, and provincial governments, as applicable, as well as  to make our organizations known to local members of the federal governments whose constituency includes Quebec. In addition, our goal is also to defend the good name of Poland and  the Polish people, to help our aging generation of seniors, to maintain  our schools, churches and organizations so our youth can continue to learn the polish language, culture and traditions.  Our goal is also to instill the feeling of patriotism by organizing events that mark Poland’s history.
